blablabla, for editors and press
A rehearsal partner built by an actor for actors — respecting the craft, never cutting you off, made in Denmark.
The 30-second version
Actors spend hours rehearsing alone. blablabla is the app that reads every other character's lines out loud while they practice theirs — and waits, patiently, when it's their turn to speak.
Built in Copenhagen by Elias Munk, a working actor with fourteen-plus years on set. The app is a one-person project. Every feature exists because an actor actually needed it.
Available on iOS. Free to start, with a Pro subscription for heavier use. Shipped in Danish, English, German, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.
Company story
blablabla started with a missed phone call. Elias had an audition the next morning and couldn't find anyone to read the other part. Voice-memo rehearsal felt wrong — talking over a recording of yourself isn't acting opposite someone. A better rehearsal partner had to exist, and if it didn't, it would have to be built.
The first version was a weekend project. It read the other character's lines and waited for you to say yours. That was it. The first time an actor used it and said "this actually works," the project became serious.
The Golden Rule came early and has never moved: never cut the actor off. No coaching, no extra spoken text, the app waits indefinitely during user turns. Every feature decision since has been measured against that rule.
Under the hood, an on-device pipeline fuses a Core ML voice-activity detector with Apple's speech recogniser and a set of per-language equivalence maps. The maps matter most for Nordic classical text — an actor delivering Ibsen or Holberg shouldn't be scored against for period-correct diction. Few apps can tell that story.
Today blablabla is used by actors across Scandinavia and the UK, from drama-school applicants rehearsing audition sides to working film and television actors prepping self-tapes. It stays a one-person project on purpose — the craft of the app reflects the craft of the people who use it.
